Porous pavement is an eco-friendly pavement solution for tackling today's overburdened storm water management systems. In many circumstances, porous pavement can actually help minimize the harmful effects commonly associated with urban runoff.
The unique open-graded asphalt mix is installed over a thick layer of open-graded aggregate base materials called a recharge bed. When it rains, the storm water effectively seeps through the pavement surface, drains into the recharge bed where it is filtered, and then returns back into the underlying subbase where it finally makes its way back into the water table and aquifer. Amazing!
